Usually once a year the District Apostle gathers all Apostles, Bishops, National Rectors, Administrators. Again it was time for such a meeting and 42 Brothers and 6 Sisters from 11 countries came to the City of Depok.

“Sustainability for the future; a victory with Christ” was the theme of the convention. “Victory with Christ; means to fulfill the will of God” the District Apostle said in his welcome address, “and that is exactly what we want to do” God’s will must be done, in soul care, mission, teaching and administration alike. Often we do not know it and must inquire; meaning pray for wisdom.

“Culture, value and ways of doing things” was another elaboration. “My kingdom is not of this world” the Lord Jesus said but admonished also to “seek it first” and in the Lord’s prayer we all pray: Yours is the kingdom….” . Bases of ministry, our mission and soulcare and ordination, were other topics. Discussed were “Strategies to face chalenges” and a self assessment exercise on the doctrine of future things were next and the latter really triggered a very lively and engaged debate.

The Divine service for ministers and wives of greater Jakarta was on a bible text from John 15:8. To glorify the Father, to be Jesus disciples, means to bear much fruit” Fruit bears the seed for the future and Jesus was at various occasion very outspoken and firm on trees who do not bear fruit.

The Depok church was filled to capacity on Sunday morning. The District Apostles sermon was about

“Victory with Christ is fighting with the weapons of Jesus which will always win but never hurt. Victory with Christ requires to test the spirit whether they are of God” (1. John 4:1)

Ev. Yakub Sunardi was granted well deserved retirement. 44 years he served as minister. Nusantara and many other congregations in Metro Jakarta grew under his rectorship. He served also many years as treasurer on the Board of GKBI.
