What a better way to celebrate “Victory with Christ” than during holy week, Palmsunday to Easter? While the District Apostle celebrated Palmsunday with the Makati Congregation in Manila/Philippines he conducted the Good Friday service at our Tangerang South Church and Easter in Palasari/Bandung, where also the 70th anniversary of the foundation of this congregation was celebrated.
Saturday night various presentations commemorated the congregation’s birthday. Ministers Choir, Mothers Choirs, Sunday School gave a testimony that Palisari is still young, joyful and very much alive. “Life in oneness to be a blessing for others” was the theme. 25-30 members made the beginning in 1946 and today Palasari congregation has a membership of 383. “A growth which also gives us the duty to continue what our Brethren have began and to grow more also in quality, perfection towards the coming of Christ” Today’s Rector, Ev. Yosefman Kaian stated.
In all divine services the messages of our Chief Apostle were elaborated. In short …
Palm Sunday reminds us of how Jesus entered into Jerusalem amid the great cheers of the crowds. Like the people in the time of Jesus, we too have certain expectations of God. Often we do not understand His actions. It is the Holy Spirit who leads us into the knowledge of Jesus Christ. Let us ask ourselves the question on Palm Sunday: WHAT DO I EXPECT OF JESUS CHRIST?
On Good Friday we remember the death of Jesus Christ. This event makes it seem as though evil has won – but it is precisely in this situation of abasement that the majesty of Jesus Christ is the true King, who truly rules and suffers for His own! ABASED BY MAN, (OR EARTHLY CIRCUMSTANCES), BUT EXALTED BY GOD. Shall be our conviction on Good Friday.
The celebration of EASTER is the highpoint of the church year. It is a celebration of resurrection and the hope for new life. After the ignominious crucifixion of Jesus, evil seemed to have triumphed over good. The resurrection of Jesus Christ, however, demonstrates the power of God over evil and death. This resurrection gives believers the justified hope in their own resurrection and eternal life.
PROCLAIM TO THE WORLD THAT JESUS CHRIST
IS RISEN AND LIVES IN US!
“Rejoice, fear not, go and tell” was the record of Matthew about Christ’s first words on Easter morning. That is our Easter resolution!
