Youth Day Wrapped in Gadget Technology

Youth Day (HKM) of two sub-districts, namely East Jakarta and West Java on October 29 and October 30, 2016 presented a different thing. A series of activities filled with excitement, channeling of gifts and talents, togetherness and strengthening of faith combined with gadget technology.

A total of 250 young people gathered in Wisma Shalom, Lembang, Bandung on a cool and bright Saturday morning. This event was initiated by the District Evangelists, namely Eko Susilo Hadi (East Jakarta) and Tri Bensya Hardani (West Java) and used QR codes in its implementation, including the registration process and some games segment in it.

“Pakeiman Go”, inspired by the game “Pokémon Go ™”, was one segment of the HKM games that used QR code technology as the key to participate in the presented games. The participants scan the given QR codes with QR code scanner application and they will be linked to a site withthe game instructions. Then, the participants also had the opportunity to choose the “Prince and Princess of HKM” by using this technology.

Apostle Edy Isnugroho who did the opening mark of the event, emphasized the theme of the event, namely “Self Realisation in Christ”. He understands that young people need a platform to express themselves in fun things, but he also appealed that it should remain in accordance with the Lord’s teaching.

Full self-surrendering

A youth divine service which was based on the passage from Matthew 25:40 and attended by 344 souls was the peak of HKM. Apostle Edy Isnugroho reminded about the Confirmation Vow that was already spoken by youth by highlighting the words “… and surrender myself to You, Otriune God …” A fully surrender can only be done if people love others, thus affirmed the Apostle, “Our love for the Lord is evidenced by our love to the people belongs to the Lord and our neighbour. The love that stems from faith must be expressed in tangible actions.”

Apostle Edy stated that the examples mentioned by the Lord Jesus in the passage, which are feeding the hungry and drink to the thirsty; welcome the stranger; to clothe the naked; visit the sick and in prison; is applicable in the sense of physical and spiritual matters to the brothers and sisters in faith, to other people and also to the unredeemed souls in the realm of the departed.
