“Sumatera is a very large region. We have wished for an Apostle there for a long time.” District Apostle Urs Hebeisen said this to all members of the congregation last January. Chief Apostle Jean-Luc Schneider has ordained Apostle Rumantiyo (47) for the region of Sumatera in a festive divine service in Bandar Lampung, 18 May 2017.
In 75 congregations under his care, he will be helped by 334 other ministers and serve about 4500 souls.
The editorial staff had an opportunity to talk with Apostle Rumantiyo
Can you explain your family’s background?
I was born in a New Apostolic family. My father came from Karangtawang and my mother came from Purwodadi, Gombong. I was born in Lampung on 21 March 1970 and grew up in Lampung. Currently I live in Pasir Sakti, East Lampung. I have a child and a grandchild.
What is your current profession?
I am registered as a government employee in the Department of Education and teach as an elementary school teacher.
How were you initially told to be ordained as an Apostle?
I was invited to Nusantara congregation by Apostle Edy and Apostle Samuel and was told to be an Apostle at about the end of 2016, then I was asked about my readiness to carry out the Apostle ministry. At that time I was asking for time to discuss it first with my family. Later, my family has supported me, and finally I am willing to accept this ministry.
There are many challenges in soul care task. What is the most difficult one?
My working area belongs to the extreme one, many roads are not paved yet. But, when I meet my brothers and sisters, I rejoice at once.
Did you ever experience a dangerous incident?
So far I have never experienced a dangerous incident, but I’ve experienced many times when I fell from the motorcycle because of the slippery and steep roads.
For you, what is the most impressive experience of faith during your soul care task?
I am really impressed with God’ss help and all that comes from the prayer we ask God for. Especially where God gives healing to the children of God who are sick, and many brothers and sisters who are weak in faith are strengthened and returned into the fellowship of God’s children.
Which region will be your working area?
My working area will cover the entire island of Sumatera. That is due to my service bond which have not been released for a while. The Chief Apostle also said that the (worldly) work we have and the ministry should be in balance.
What is the motto of your life?
I want to work and serve the Lord with love and joy.
