The Thanksgiving Day 2020 was celebrated in a slightly different way from previous years. Most of God’s children have had to stay at home because of the restrictions on health protocols implemented during the Covid-19 pandemic, and had attended the divine service via streaming. Only a small proportion could attend the divine service directly in the Church. But difficult circumstances did not prevent us to thank God for the great deeds He had done for us. The text which was the basis for this year’s Thanksgiving service is taken from Psalm 104:24. “O Lord, how manifold are Your works! In wisdom You have made them all. The earth is full of Your possessions.” The Apostles visited congregations where it was possible to hold divine services in the Church.
District Apostle Edy Isnugroho served the Kemirirejo congregation in Magelang accompanied by Bishop Dwi Sulistyo Utomo, District Evangelist Mercy, Shepherd Suparman, and Evangelist Hadi Sucipto. In his ministration, the District Apostle underlined, “A healthy soul is a thankful soul.” We should check whether we are grateful for God’s great creations, both visible and invisible. “We want to preserve, protect, and cultivate our rich earth wisely, until God creates a new heaven and a new earth.”
The joy of the congregation increased with the appointment of Pr. Singgih as the Rector of Kemirirejo congregation, as well as the ordination of Priest Margiyono and Deacon Nglenggono.
Apostle Samuel Hadiwidagdo served God’s children in the southern limestone hills of Yogyakarta, to be precise at the Sumberwungu congregation. For a long time, the Rector of the congregation had expected a friend of Priest to help serve the congregation. Right on the day of the Thanksgiving Day, God gave him a friend of priestly ministry, that is Priest Heriawan. As many as 60 people took part in this service.
The joy of God’s children in Margahayu congregation at the Thanksgiving Day increased with the presence of the Apostle Samuel Handojo Tansahtikno. He was accompanied by District Evangelist Sudi Sri Waluyo and Shepherd Tri Budiharto. In the service which was attended by 113 souls, Apostle Samuel carried out the act of Holy Sealing to Sister Avincennia Vindy Fitriana.
